How it Works
Waves
We will have two waves to allow more room for those competing. One wave will be in the morning and one in the early afternoon. When you sign up, you will choose which wave you would prefer to participate in (the wave you choose will have no impact on your scoring).
Brackets
You will also choose the category you would like to compete in. There will be three different brackets. Beginner V0 - V3, intermediate V4 - V6, and advanced V7+. Categories are not gendered, so just climb your best and log your climbs!
Placing and Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both the Beginner (V0–V3) and Intermediate (V4–V6) brackets. These qualification rounds are non-gendered — everyone climbs in the same category based on skill level.
If you compete in the Advanced (V7+) bracket, you're climbing for a spot in Finals. The top 15 advanced competitors will advance to the final round in the evening. Finals will be separated into three gender categories - Men’s, Women’s, and Nonbinary/Gender Nonconforming - to ensure fair and inclusive competition. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finalists in each gender category.
Prizes include cool merch for our awesome sponsors (to be announced), free memberships, and a cash purse for our finalists!
More detailed rules, including scoring format and judging criteria, will be released closer to the competition date.
Finals
Format
The top 15 scorers from the Advanced (V7+) bracket will move on to compete in Finals, held in the evening after the qualification waves are complete. Finalists will be selected based on total points scored during qualifiers - flash bonuses will be used. Attempts will only be used to break ties.
Finalists will be split into three gender categories:
-
Top 5 Men
-
Top 5 Women
-
Top 5 Non-binary / Gender Nonconforming
Each gender category will climb three boulders during finals:
-
Men will climb three problems set specifically for their category
-
Women will climb three problems set specifically for their category
-
Nonbinary/Gender Nonconforming finalists will climb three problems selected from across the men’s and women’s final routes
Scoring will be based on tops, zones, and number of attempts, with attempts only factored in to break ties.
Finals will be run in isolation format, with one climber on the wall at a time and no previewing other finalists' climbs.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each gender category. Finals will close out with an after party featuring food, drinks, music, and celebration — stick around!
Isolation
Athletes must remain in the isolation area before and after their attempts and may not be given information about the other athletes scores from anyone other than those athletes themselves. A staff member will pull athletes out of isolation when it is their turn and walk back to isolation when their attempt is completed. Once a climber has attempted their final boulder they may remain in the crowd to watch the others climb the final boulder.
Observation
Prior to competing, the athletes will have a 5 minute observation period where they will be allowed to to look at the boulders and talk to each other about them before entering isolation. The competitors will NOT be allowed to touch any of the holds or risk disqualification.
Order
Non-Binary athletes will perform their boulders first while all of the athletes are in isolation. Once they finish, the male and female categories will compete simultaneously on their boulders. After scoring is finished there will be an award ceremony and prizes will be awarded.
The order that the athletes will compete in will be determined by score in the qualifying rounds in reverse order. The athlete with the 5th most points will go 1st, 4th most 2nd, etc… With the point leader going last.
